WOW

5 of 5
This is an extremely large apartment that is exceptionally well equipped and looked after. There is plenty of space for the maximum number of guests and unlike many advertised places this lives up to the billing. The owners have done a great job in planning the layout and the furnishings. The best beds we have slept on during a five week holiday through Europe. Julie and Iain, the local managers, are wonderful and full of local information and very helpful in many other ways. This is not just a property for winter skiing but is available all year round and well worth a visit when the snows have gone or are yet to appear. Many great places to visit and Salzburg is a lovely place to spend the day. Ski lifts are open during the summer and hikers and cyclists will be in their element. There are restaurants and cafes within walking distance and even more if you are prepared to travel a bit further. We would recommend this apartment to anyone as being well above the norm.

Everything you can think of.....

4 of 5
Haus Bergheim may not be the easiest place to find (we drove past it 3 times before working out which drive we needed to go up!) but once you do, it's worth the effort. Sue and Les Milner have put a great deal of thought into the renovation of this property to provide a ground floor apartment which is what you rent, plus an upstairs apartment where they live. The rental apartment had everything we needed or could imagine needing! It's very comfortable, warm, the facilities are high quality and easy to use. The walk-in power shower in the bathroom is extremely good, and has both a shower head you can hold as well as a huge one above your head. There's also a separate loo (i.e. 2 toilets). The Milners are friendly, very helpful and can provide lots of practical advice. Their black lab, Merlin, is an added bonus! The area is beautiful, with Bad Goisern having several cafes with the usual good coffee, but nearby Bad Ischl stole the show for us - absolutely gorgeous town about 20 minutes' drive north with lovely walks (and restaurants) alongside the river with stunning views, and home to the Kaiser Palace, so with parks and amazing architecture. We didn't have the opportunity, but there are apparently loads of off road mountain-biking trails to suit various abilities, but read up about ticks before you go - they are very prevalent and can carry encephalitis, so cover up in the countryside and if bitten, the advice is to go to an A&E department for an enoculation (all Austrians are vaccinated).
