Things to do on holiday in Queensland, Australia

There are no less than five World Heritage Sites in Queensland alone. The world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island is a particular favourite with visitors who can spend their days trying to drive around the island in a 4x4, stopping regularly to dig themselves out or to swim in one of the delightfully warm and clear freshwater lakes. Another World Heritage Site and probably the most famous in Queensland is the Great Barrier Reef, which is the pinnacle of sport for scuba divers. The Great Barrier Reef hides many unbelievable treasures which can only be explored from the water.

All along the coast of Queensland water sports thrive. There are a number of hot spots of activity in Queensland, from sailing in the Whitsunday Islands to scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef, but in general, taking coastal accommodation in Queensland will ensure you get magnificent opportunities to practice water sports of all varieties.

Travel north in Queensland and you will eventually arrive in the astonishing landscape of Tropical North Queensland. The Wet Tropics (also a World Heritage site) cover a landscape of deep gorges, fearsome mountain peaks and plunging waterfalls which make walking, climbing and riding holidays a simply magical experience. The more traditional outback is also plentiful in Queensland, and although not many Queensland holidays revolve around the wild emptiness of the Outback, there are some magnificent adventures to be had, from fishing in local spots or having a cool beer in an iconic outback pub, there is a huge amount of fun to be had from a Queensland property in the wilderness.

The Beach House was in a GREAT location and was absolutely huge. Much bigger than it looked on the pictures. And a great value as well - was the cheapest place we stayed during our entire Australia trip. Trinity Beach is just across the street and you have a great view of the ocean from the unit. Great to have the washer and drying right in the unit and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Very clean as well. It's not a place with high-end luxury finishes, but who wants that when you are there for the beach? Matthew, the owner, was very communicative as well. Would definitely recommend.
