We loved or stay and are very happy with the service we received from our hosts, especially Jane.
We were in Hobart for my husband to play in the Australian Men's Masters Hockey Championships and needed to find accommodation, that had at least 3 bedrooms, to accommodate our three teenage kids and us comfortably. I found trying to find accommodation with 3+ bedrooms, at a reasonable cost, hard to find in Hobart.
Jack's Cottage is approximately 20 mins from the airport. At first, we were a bit confused about where to park our car (there is no off-street parking - this is stipulated in the ad but as we were coming from QLD, where that's pretty much unheard of, we didn't really pay any attention - note to self: pay attention to the no off street parking note) but we were lucky to get a park near the front door. For some strange reason, the whole street is 2 hour parking (unpaid) but the 2-3 spots directly in front of Jack's is only 1 hour. As council don't do a parking permit, we had to move our car if we were home longer than 2 hours but this was only mildly inconvenient (as opposed to a parking fine).
On arrival, the cottage was very clean and smelled fresh. After the initial fight between the kids as to who was having the queen bed and bedroom to them self and who had to share a bedroom (2 single beds), peace was restored and we unpacked without incident.
It was lovely to find tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a cupboard full of condiments in the kitchen as well as all cleaning products under the sink. On top of this, the bathroom was stocked with toiletries and the laundry was stocked with detergents and cleaners. We really only had to buy our fresh food, meat and other snacks to be sufficiently covered for the week - and Woolworths is only a 3 minute drive down the road (easy walking distance) so we really only bought as we needed to. There are many cafes and restaurants with in walking distance as well. The city is a 10 minute drive and it suited us well to be only 5-7 minutes from the hockey grounds (as that is where we spent most of our time). The cottage is a $12 taxi trip to the city if need be.
The beds were comfortable and there were ample blankets, fresh linen and towels. There was plenty of room for us all and even though it was cold outside, inside was warm and inviting.
The only things I would change would be the addition of a dryer and dish washer, but both of these are added extras and not necessities and council to rethink t
