Holidaymakers looking for a fantastic vacation by the sea should stay on the East Coast of Tasmania in the south of Australia. This beautiful area offers many exciting things for visitors to see and do. Here visitors will find numerous different places to stay including self catering accommodation, apartments, B&Bs and campsites.
The east coast of Tasmania offers many fun activities as well as pretty sandy beaches, where holidaymakers can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Various different watersports can be enjoyed off the coast such as fishing, swimming, diving, sailing and kayaking. There are lots of fun trails along this coastline too that will provide hikers and cyclists a chance to enjoy the scenic views. Golf fans will find a few excellent courses dotted around too such as the ones in Swansea and St Helens. There are lots of shops and markets from which self catering holidaymakers can purchase provisions and visitors will also find restaurants and bars serving excellent food and drink.
The island of Tasmania has many interesting places to visit, not least along the east coast. There are areas of natural beauty such as the Douglas-Apsley National Park, where tourists will find river gorges and waterfalls or Mount William National Park, which counts Forester Kangaroos amongst its residents. Bicheno is a place also well blessed with wildlife with penguin tours here very popular as well as the kangaroos, Tasmanian devils and pelicans at the local wildlife park. Another good town to visit is Swansea where there is the Swansea Bark Mill and Tavern, historic houses and Kate’s Berry Farm for holidaymakers to visit. The state capital is Hobart. Here there are fine sights such as the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, the Federation Concert Hall, the oldest synagogue in Australia and the unique Tasman Bridge.
The warmest time of the year in this part of Tasmania is January and February with average high temperatures of 22 degrees centigrade. The coldest month is July when average highs are 12 degrees centigrade and average lows are 4 degrees. Rainfall is fairly evenly spread throughout the year but December on average is the wettest month with 54mm, while June is the driest with an average of 31mm.
Hobart International Airport (HBA) is close to the south east coast of Tasmania and receives flights from Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL) and Sydney (SYD) as well as other Australian airports. Avis, Bargain Car, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Redspot and Thrifty are car rental firms represented at Hobart Airport. Visitors from outside Australia can fly to Melbourne and get a connecting flight to Hobart. Flights arrive at Melbourne from a few international airports including Beijing-Capital (PEK), Hong Kong (HKG), London-Heathrow (LHW) and Los Angeles (LAX).
