Captain Cook Lookout can be reached from Simone Place in Avoca. Look for the rock cairn with a plaque explaining the view Captain Cook first named in 1770 from this point. On a clear day views of the Skillion headland at Terrigal can be seen. Cockrane Lagoon is a pleasant place for a family swim or paddle in the calm waters. Apart from the beach and small towns in the area, the main place to visit is Sydney which is a 90 minute drive from your holiday rental at Avoca Beach. Sydney Harbour is the place to find the Opera House, parks and the famous Harbour Bridge which can be climbed with a guide.
