The province of Rio Negro offers many activities throughout the year including winter sports. The area lends itself to great hiking, cycling and horse riding excursions in the summer with fantastic scenery, flora and fauna. Argentina has more golf courses than any other South American country and visitors to Rio Negro will find courses at San Carlos de bariloche and Viedma. There are a number of watersports available in the region such as canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. The region has a number of beaches in places such as Las Grutas ideal for holidaymakers to relax, while mountain biking and paragliding are amongst the other activities possible in Rio Negro. The region has a good choice of shops to visit with mainstream stores and shopping malls in the bigger cities. Self catering holidaymakers will find plenty of stores and markets selling food and drink. There is a large choice of restaurants, cafes and bars with a variety of cuisine from Latin American to American fast food.

There are many interesting places to visit in Rio Negro, including numerous wonderful old buildings, museums and galleries. A couple of museums worth visiting in Cipolletti are the Allen Municipal Museum and the Carlos Ameghino Museum and Peuser Palace. There are some wonderful parks and gardens to see as well such as the the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi, which is the oldest national park of Argentina. Tourists may like to take a journey on the Patagonia Express, which is a steam train that runs from Ingeniero Jacobacci to Esquel. Rio Grande Valley is an important wine making region and tours are offered to tourists. Bariloche is a city in the province well worth visiting as it has many things to do and see.

There are connecting flights from Buenos Aires to several airports in the region including Teniente Luis Candelaria International Airport (BRC), which serves the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.
