Make a holiday home in Anguilla your home away from home

The little island of Anguilla that sits amid the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea is endowed with all the natural beauty one would expect of a Caribbean island. Its beaches are decked in sugary white sands glistening in unlimited sunshine and kissed by a refreshing sea breeze making for hours of blissful sunbathing. The only noise visitors will encounter here is the call of seagulls and the monotonous hiss of the tide. To complement the simple joys of this tropical paradise will be luxurious nights in Anguilla holiday homes, a good number of which are situated on the edge of the glassy Caribbean waters. As they relax and enjoy the stunning views from their balconies, holidaymakers will fall in love with this magical island. At their disposal will be such facilities as swimming pools and satellite TV.

Things to do

-Beaches: Anguilla’s coastline is dotted with amazing bays and carpets of fine white sand fringed by swaying palm trees; a postcard-ready paradise purpose built for coastal getaways. To complete the pampering, visitors can spend a few hours in one of many spas in this locale, partaking of soothing massages and other rejuvenating treatments. To cool off holidaymakers will find many safe places to take a dip in the sea. Visitors to these beaches will also likely encounter various turtle species who use the fine sands as nesting grounds.

-Water sports: And if they fancy a bit of adventure, there are a number of places they can get scuba diving and snorkelling gear. Under the clear waters lies a stunning stretch of reef and a number of interesting wrecks. Lessons are offered by a number of firms which have instructors to lead expeditions. Those who fancy a spot of angling can hire gear and a boat and set off into the blue vastness of the Caribbean.

-Museums: Much as the last thing most visitors headed to holiday homes in Anguilla have on their minds is a history lesson, they will want to spend a moment or two in the Heritage Collection Museum. Here they’ll find photos, documentation and artefacts that trace the island’s history from the time it was inhabited by the Arawak Indians through the time of the fight for freedom in the 1960s. A visit here comes with the pleasure of meeting Mr. Colville Petty who expertly takes visitors through Anguilla’s history.

-Food and drink: There is no shortage of great places to eat on this island. Occupants of self-catering holiday rentals in Anguilla need not worry about stepping into the kitchen. They can instead check out the menus of such restaurants as the highly rated Hibernia which, apart from local delicacies offers Asian and French cuisine. For more affordable but no less tasty fare where locals eat, visitors can dine at the Blanchards Beach Shack.

-Nightlife: There are many places where one can have a quiet beer while enjoying the sweet evening breeze, and have a decent meal to go with it. The Dune Preserve or Johnno’s Place is the place for all who envision spending their nights this way. It is a bar in a boat right on the beach.

Weather in Anguilla

This place enjoys beautiful warm weather all year round thanks to its tropical location. Whichever month visitors choose to book their Anguilla holiday homes, they’ll find temperatures between 26 and 30°C. However those who visit between June and September need to pack a bottle of sunscreen as temperatures tend to average 32°C in this time of year.

Travel to Anguilla

Most of this island’s visitors access it through St. Maarten/St. Martin to which there are direct flights from many European cities. From here they can either take a chartered plane to Anguilla which will take less than 10 minutes or charter a boat. There is also regular ferry service between the two islands which takes 20 minutes to make the trip across.

A perfect place for a safe, quiet, relaxing vacation.

Anguilla is a little hard to find your way around at first, as roads are not well marked and, sometimes, not well defined. But it's a small place so you soon learn the landmarks. Anguilla is safe, and the people are among the most friendly in the region. Sand Castle villa is in a beautifull location and has been well planned, well constructed, and well furnished both inside and out. The master bedroom suite is particularly nice. The staff are very accomodating and helpful. Generally speaking appliances, etc. were very good quality and in very good condition, although we did need service (which was very promptly provided) on the TV and the phone, and the dishwasher and the automatic lighter on the barbecue did not work (using a match in lieu of the latter provides a bit of a thrill).
