Hen weekends abroad

Every groom-to-be deserves a stag do, and as such, every bride-to-be should have a hen weekend! This is a time when you take that last weekend before your wedding, and spend some quality time with your most important female friends and family. Usually one person will organise the whole event, perhaps your Maid of Honour, but it doesn't mean you can't ensure all the details are in check and that you're getting a hen weekend you will never forget! One way of making sure this happens is to plan the trip abroad, even if it isn’t all that far from home. There is nothing like taking a holiday abroad, let alone a hen weekend overseas. The hardest decision the planner will be faced with is where to go. There are so many great destinations that it can prove very difficult to choose, which is why we've listed some of our favourite hen locations. Of course, the best thing to do is take what you know of the bride-to-be and her preferences and go from there: if you know she's a party animal, plan a weekend of clubbing in a top Spanish destination; if she goes weak at the knees for stately homes, choose a spa break in a rural location. Read on for our list of possibilities!

  • Tossa de Mar, Spain

Tossa de Mar, Spain must be one of the most popular places for hens from the UK: hundreds flock here for sun-kissed days and the charming, old town ambiance, which just happens to be complemented by the breathtaking beach and cove. There are many restaurants and bars to choose from when you fancy a night on the town, and this makes it an even better place to spend some quality time with friends. What could be more relaxing than lazing on the beach, getting a little tipsy on some of the local beers? There are flights that leave this area and travel to a variety of different locations too, so you are just a stone’s throw away from other equally exquisite places.

  • Berlin, Germany

Berlin happens to boast some of the best nightlife in all of Western Europe, but that's not nearly all it has to offer; this is the perfect destination for hen weekends because it's a mecca of shopping hubs too! Combine sightseeing with a spending spree, and of course the hidden historic treasures you'll see if you look hard enough, and you have a perfect hen weekend in the making. Of course, because the city is spit up into different districts, each one offers something a bit different: from nightclubs and quirky cafes to fine dining restaurants and theatre, one thing is for sure, no hen weekend in Berlin will ever get boring.

  • Rome, Italy

What else could a girl ask for than to spend her very last weekend as a single woman in the sexiest city in the world? Yes, we are talking about Rome and its inimitable Italian stallions, but also the capital's cuisine, cultural and historical sites, and nightlife. No other city rivals it: it's like comparing a hen weekend in Rome to the finest wine or most expensive champagne! There is almost no way to describe the marvels of this ancient city, but one thing we can say: there's no shortage of things to keep you and the girls entertained. The well-mannered and mild, yet beautiful men to gaze at are always a good place to start!
  • Prague, Czech Republic

A hen party weekend in Prague offers much in the way of exciting activities, private accommodation and heady nightlife. Whilst Prague may be just a little more pricy than it once was, it's still an affordable option for hens on a budget. Of course, the city is so magnificent that you can quite happily wander around its quirky streets, stopping off for the odd cocktail along the way. Karlovy Lazne is one of the capital's most famous, and perhaps best, nightclubs, and hens are sure to have an amazing time there. One thing you might want to consider is hiring a guide for the day: you should get by speaking English, but it could be fun to learn a few Czech phrases!
