Relaxing Holidays

Sometimes, holidays are taken for fun and excitement in an effort to get the whole family out for some adventure. Other times, holidays are taken for special occasions such as honeymoons and anniversaries. However, much of the time people just want a holiday that includes nothing more than relaxing in a secluded area, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Things can be stressful in the city these days, that the only medicine that seems to work is some much needed time away to regroup. If you're looking for some tranquillity, warmth and simple privacy, some of the places we've compiled below are excellent locations to consider visiting. No matter where you live or what your budget is, you can find some wonderfully serene spots to take a relaxing holiday. The most important thing when booking your trip is to remember that private accommodation is always superior to a hotel. Often away from busy and bustling resorts, look into renting your own personal holiday home or villa today at any of the places listed below.

  1. Relaxing holidays in Lake Tahoe, USA

When visiting Lake Tahoe in California, one of the best places to start exploring is Emerald Bay State Park. Here you will have access to a beach where Eagle Creek runs into the head of Emerald Bay: it's an area so picturesque, it will be hard to leave without taking dozens of photos. You'll probably want to carry some warm clothing too, as it can get a bit chilly in the evenings. Another excellent attraction that is serene yet memorizing is the Tallic Historic Site. This location preserves some of the homes of wealthy families who lived there long ago. The grounds are stunning, rich with historical value, and offer some very pretty natural sights. It's just across from the Kiva picnic area, so you can stop and sit for a nice lunch during your tour.

  2. Peaceful holidays in Taveuni, Fiji

There is not enough that can be said about Fiji. The weather is always perfect in this tropical paradise, and so anyone looking to spend an entire holiday lying on a gorgeous beach in a serene atmosphere will find Taveuni to be a very desirable holiday spot. There are beautiful mountain trails to hike through for those who enjoy exploring nature. At the end of the day you will find returning to your own private holiday home, where you can sit and sip wine by the pool and watch the sunset, one of the most relaxing parts of your stay. Whilst the dining locations are primarily located at the resorts, they are all close in proximity and welcome non-guests to dine.

  3. Relaxing holidays in Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Tulum, situated in Playa Del Carmen Mexico is another peaceful place to take a holiday. It is located right on the water, and most of the holiday private villas are so close to the sea and the Mayan ruins, that the views are spectacular. Other places of interest to see while you are visiting Tulum include the Temple of the Diving God, the Temple of the Frescos and the Temple of the Wind and Watch Towers, as well as the 7 and ½ metre tall Castillo. All of these are truly impressive sites, and should not be missed by visitors in this region. With any luck you’ll be donning a bathing suit for most of your trip, but be sure to bring some comfortable shoes so you can walk along the beach and explore.

  4. Peaceful holidays in Tenerife, Canary Islands

Visitors will find this beautiful Spanish archipelago situated right off the northwestern coast of Arica. Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and features spacious parklands, black sand beaches and many fun nightclubs for those who want to get out on the town after a relaxing day at the beach. For snorkelling, the best spot is the island of Fuerteventura, by far, and is easily reaches by boat. Tenerife itself hosts many street festivals, with loads of scrumptious foods to try, but another nice island is Gran Canaria, which allows visitors to tour ancient churches, hike along sand dunes and view the natural sights on the island. All of the islands can be easily accessed by hiring a boat to take holiday makers around.

  5. Peaceful holidays in Cabarete, Dominican Republic

Cabarete is a tiny town located approximately 20 minutes from Sosua by car. If you prefer a smaller town, which you probably will if you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this is a good spot. Many Europeans seem to flock to this particular area for a tranquil holiday. You will find most of the businesses and eateries are owned and operated by the locals. There are many bars and small cafes located up and down the beach, which is nice for those who want to spend all of their time out on the sand. This is one of our favourite locations in the Dominican Republic when it comes to a relaxing holiday spot. The good thing is you can easily get around to sightsee if that is what you want to do. However, we have a feeling most of your time will be spent on the beach or by the pool at your private holiday rental.
