Otzi the Iceman

Bolzano is well known for its Bronze age mummy of a peasant which was found nearby, preserved in the glacier of Val Seanles. The ice preserved the man's clothing and equipment for over 5,000 years and exhibits include his copper axe, flint knife, a quiver of arrows and some baskets. Otzi is the oldest human mummy in Europe and is a fascinating attraction

Mareccio Castle

This impressive castle on the Via Claudia de’Medici dates back to the early 13th century. The courtyard has a loggia and four Renaissance corner towers which were added in the 16th century. See the many frescoes around the castle, some of which show the emblems of the 16th century Tyrolean families. The castle is now surrounded by fields of vines which are used to produce the local wine.
