    Things to do

-Beaches: Colloquially known as the 'Treasure Coast' due to unearthed Spanish treasure lost in the 1715 hurricane, Jensen Beach holiday rentals may well be a place to bring the metal detector. If you don't strike it rich, you may as well kick back and enjoy the endless white sands and rolling surf instead!

-Watersports: As is typical for towns on this coast, marinas, beaches and surf shops are plentiful, giving you access to boat trips, fishing charters, skiing, surfboard and wakeboarding hires, and all the other equipment you'll need for a beach holiday in the sun.

-Savanna Preserve State Park: Savannas, AKA freshwater marshes, were a common ecosystem along this stretch of coast that are now sadly dwindling. Hence this natural history preserve. Kayaking, Canoeing and fishing are popular activities, as is hanging out in the BBQ picnic areas to simply enjoy the natural surroundings. YOu can also work up an appetite with a nature hike or mountain bike!

-Nightlife: Nights tend to end a little early on the Treasure Coast, so restaurants are the way to go. Mostly laid back seafront establishments that close early so you can rise early for the fishing! Late nighters can head to nearby St. Lucie for more eclectic eating, drinking and dancing opportunities.

-NASA: The Space Coast (Florida has taken to naming stretches of this coastline for their activities) is just to the north of Jensen Beach. A 90 minute drive will get you to Cape Canaveral; the epicentre of NASA operations. There's an incredible list of museums and attractions to explore, from a decommissioned Space Shuttle to launch pads to museums documenting NASA's history.

    Weather in Jensen Beach

With a subtropical climate, Jensen Beach is a year round destination. Winters are short, mild and dry, summers are long, humid and hot. Luckily not too hot, as frequent thunderstorms in the summer wet season tend to cool a day down. But they're short, sharp and sweet, so they don't mess with your holiday too much. Temperatures in the summer can get up to the mid 30s Celsius, while winters hover around the low 20s.

    Travel to Jensen Beach

Miami is the closest international airport at 115 miles away. Orlando is another option, at 125. Flying in and hiring a car is quite honestly the best way to go. The US is built around the idea everyone is in a car, so aside from the public transport holdouts on the northeastern US coast, it's best not to buck the system. Local bus and rail networks are either absent or woefully underfunded, so driving yourself is the ideal way to roll. Taxis are well organised, but expensive and inconvenient.
