    Things to do

-Musuems. La Bordeta is in an excellent spot if you want to experience a bit of culture. Very close is Parc de Montjuïc, constructed for the Barcelona Exposition in 1929 and home to prestigious institutions like the Archeological Museum, Ethnographical Museum, as well as fantastic galleries devoted to Catalan art, and the works of Picasso and Miró. Also make the short trip to Parc de Joan Miró to see this artist’s famed Woman and Bird sculpture.

-Sights. No visit to Barcelona is complete unless you see some of Antoni Gaudí’s architecture. Head into l’Eixample to see wonders like the impossibly intricate Sagrada Familía basilica, La Pedrera or Casa Batlló, all of which are open to the public. You could also enjoy the sights and sounds of the tree-lined Las Ramblas, or, if you like football, take a tour of Camp Nou, home to FC Barcelona.

-Beaches. When it’s warm then an afternoon at the beach is always on the cards. You could take a short drive out of the city to the Costa Brava or Costa Dorada, or simply make the most of one of the golden sandy beaches on Barcelona’s seafront. Sant Sebastià is closest to La Bordeta, and you can cycle the promenade to visit others such as Playa del Bogatell and La Mar Bella, which has a watersports centre.

-Shopping. Barcelona has got to be one of Europe’s best cities for retail therapy. It’s all in the variety, and in La Bordeta you won’t have far to travel. You can shop for authentic local produce at the markets, Ninot and La Boqueria. Or you could browse the stylish boutiques at Born in the Ciutat Vella. There are also top luxury brands on Passeig de Gàcia, and affordable fashion at malls like L’illa in L’Eixample or closer on Carrer de Sants.

-Food and drink. Cusine from across the world can be found in Barcelona, but you might also like to try Spanish and Catalan specialities. For paella and other great seafood dishes make your way to the waterfront at Barceloneta. For contemporary Catalan dining in the Ferran Adrià vein, then there are high-end restaurants across l’Eixample.
