    Kilkhampton has an exciting history, having being home to Romans and ancient Saxon Kings and is recorded in the Domesday Book. Evidence of burial sites from as far back as the Bronze age have been discovered looking out from some 600 feet above sea level.

    - Penstowe Castle: also known as Kilkhampton Castle, was a medieval castle that is known to have been built sometime between the Norman Conquest and the period in the 12th Century known as the Anarchy, during the Civil War. The remains of this motte and bailey castle remains are only about 500m from the village and it is a protected national monument.

    -The Kilkhampton Church is something of an enigma with historians quarelling over whether the church is in fact 450 years old, or really 1000 years old.
