    Things to do

-Beaches. Close to Ibiza Town is Talamanca beach, which stretches for almost a kilometre and has a wooden boardwalk. Along the way there’s a great selection of restaurants and bars, while the beach is furnished with sunbeds, parasols and all the facilities you could need. Even closer is Figueretas, a smaller beach lined with palm trees and boasting clear, sheltered waters.

-Local history. Ibiza Town is the island’s capital, and the hilltop part is a historic citadel that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was designed to defend the city against pirate and Berber attacks, and in its present form is composed mostly of architecture from the late-1500s. The lovely gothic cathedral here is even older, dating from the 1300s.

-Natural scenery. Often overlooked, Ibiza’s interior most definitely warrants a bicycle or car trip, as there are quaint old villages to see, nestled in landscapes of olive groves and vineyards. There are a number of companies around the island offering cycle hire as well as organising cycle tours of some of the most impressive locations both inland and on the coast.

-Food and drink. The Balearic Islands have a few local specialities, like the ensaimada, which is a kind of swirl pastry, and sobrassada, a soft cured sausage similar in flavour to chorizo. Ibiza also has a growing reputation for its wine, with an industry that dates back to Phoenician times, but has only recently been rediscovered – try reds like Garnacha and Monastre, or whites such as Malvasía.

-Nightlife. 15 kilometres from Ibiza Town is Sant Antoni, which would appeal to younger visitors and fun-loving types, and known for its array of bars and clubs. An essential part of the experience here is the Sunset Strip, where revellers go to watch the sun go down at bars like Cafe Savannah, Cafe Mambo and Cafe del Mar – it’s a new Ibiza tradition.

    Weather in Ibiza Town

As you’d expect from the location, Ibiza Town villas are in a Mediterranean climate zone. That means you can expect warm weather for about five months of the year, from May to October. In the middle of the summer season daily temperatures normally get up to the high 20s, and rainfall is rare until the end of the summer. Spring and autumn weather is usually moderate, with some warm days and occasional rainy ones. Winters are mild, with temperatures regularly hitting double figures during the day in January.

    Travel to Ibiza Town

Ibiza Town lies no more than ten kilometres from the island’s main airport (IBZ). For holidaymakers from the UK it’s easily the most convenient way to get to Ibiza, and is served mostly by budget airlines offering flights in the spring and summer months. There’s a bus service taking you from the airport to the heart of the town, as well as a public bus network linking Ibiza town with other locations on the island. Another way to reach Ibiza Town from the Spanish mainland would be to catch a ferry from Dénia, Barcelona or Valencia.
