Make a holiday rental home, or villa in Bulgaria your home away from home

Bulgarian holidays have the opportunity to be incredibly diverse. Boasting sunny beaches on the Black Sea, lush hills and valleys in the centre, pine forest covered mountains in the southeast and many ancient cities; Bulgaria is a fascinating holiday destination. Holiday accommodation in Bulgaria can be an apartment on a beach, a chalet in a top class ski resort, or a luxury city centre apartment.

Thing to do in Bulgaria

There is such an incredible diversity in Bulgaria that any suggestions made here are merely the tip of the iceberg. The skiing in Bulgaria is sensational. Miles of pine covered mountains, with serene, unbroken snow conditions provide hours of entertainment for skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers.

The 378km of sunny beaches on the edge of the Black Sea are separated by fishing villages, secluded vineyards and romantic peninsulas. The beaches are safe for children, with no currents, gently sloping beaches and blue flag accreditation.

There are also some great spas to fully recuperate. The natural waters at Serdica (Sofia) and mud of the black sea have given rise to 500 spa centres in Bulgaria.

Places to holiday in Bulgaria

Again, with so many possible destinations and rental properties in Bulgaria available, this section is the briefest of summaries.

Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, is one of the oldest cities in Europe, believed to have been first inhabited in the 8th Century BC. As a result, there is some fascinating architecture, history and culture to be found here, with many buildings making it onto the UNESCO World Heritage List, including the 10th Century Boyana Church, and the gold domed Alexander Neuski Cathedral. Sofia also has a range of exhibitions and galleries; the National Gallery of Foreign Art and the National Archaeological Museum are two which stand out. Whilst in Sofia, it is recommended that you cap your visit by popping into a tavern to sample some of the folk music and traditional dancing!

Burgas and Varna two of the largest cities in Bulgaria, and are both situated on the Black Sea Coast. During the summer, they are blessed with around 11 hours a day for sunbathing, as there is little breeze, and temperatures remain high. Varna is an ancient city too, and there are fine examples of ancient, medieval, renaissance and modern architecture all integrated into the city seamlessly.

Plovdiv, the fourth large city in Bulgaria is rich in folklore, and the magnificently decorated churches are awe-inspiring.

Bulgarian Weather

Bulgaria's climate is split into four distinct seasons. The winters are cold, with average temperatures for January hovering around the 0°C mark. The summers are obviously much warmer, allowing for beach holidays. The temperatures are less than the stifling heat of the Mediterranean, rarely breaking 30°C, so are perfect if you d not like it too hot!
