-Porto Vecchio, about 9 miles north-east of Sotto, makes for a great day trip and for stocking up on supplies. Nestled in between the mountains and the ocean, this port has a wide variety of outdoor activities on offer, from walking trails to ancient archaeological sites to a wide range of water sports. There is also a good selection of shops, restaurants and the daily market where you can stock up on those essentials like wild boar. Palombaggia Beach, rated as one of the best in Europe, is located just a little to the south-east of Porto Vecchio.
