Make a villa in Biot your home away from home

Biot villas are set about a mile or so inland from the buzzing French Riviera coast, historically famed for the pottery and glasswork commonly crafted in this region. Characterised by quaint and narrow streets, rentals in Biot are the perfect summer alternative to the bustle of Antibes, Nice or Cannes, where HomeAway also offers a selection of holiday villas (for those looking to party and pose!). Quieter and more relaxed, the Alpes-Maritimes lie conveniently to the north of Biot accommodation, providing opportunities for lengthy mountain excursions to supplement the sand and surf.

Most villas in Biot come with a fully equipped kitchen so guests can exploit the amazing Provencal produce, as well as conveniences like washer/dryers, satellite TV and onsite parking. The vast majority of Biot holiday rentals also have access to a pool, if anyone in the travelling party can't stand the salt and sand of the shore. Tennis courts and gardens round off the luxury-end accommodation.

    Things to do

Outdoor pursuits: With the beaches and marinas well within walking distance, there are a plethora of convenient watersports to enjoy from a Biot apartments, from scuba diving to jet skiing. Inland, the Alps rise majestically to provide less commercial and more rigorous pursuits, like hiking, mountain biking and climbing. Skiing is also widely available in the winter.

Beaches: The beaches of the Cote d'Azur are just over a mile away, so are easily accessible on foot, by car, or one of the regular buses. The particular beaches closest to Biot are often regarded as the finest on the French Riviera, owning to their natural fine sand, which contrasts to the shingle found elsewhere.

Nightlife: The nightlife of the Cote d'Azur is famed for its refined excess. Biot, however, is more quiet and assuming, though still quite commercial in parts; it even has a British-style pub (albeit with Riviera-style prices)! The best bet for an authentic Provence experience is to get way off the beaten path, and venture inland with a hire car.

Shopping: Like the nightlife, the shopping on the Cote d'Azur is similarly opulent, but visitors can still enjoy themselves window shopping and people watching without spending a dime. If souvenirs are desired, it's better to go inland and browse the village markets, cutting out the coastal markup.

Culture: Biot has its own museum of the history of ceramic production in the area, as well as a museum-cum-glass outlet that trades and displays the famous 'bubbled' glass produced in the area. However, a simple walk around the hilltop village soaking up the atmosphere is as culturally rewarding as any tourist trap.

    Weather in Biot

The climate is Mediterranean, with long, hot summers and short, warm winters. Rain is sparse, but autumn sees a higher concentration of thunderstorms. High temperatures in the summer hover around 30°C, with nights comfortably in the mid-teens.
