Things to do

-Beaches. Popovici Beach is on the waterfront of the Konavle region and is as dramatic as beaches get. It sits beneath a tall cliff, at the bottom of a steep walkway, and offers a narrow but attractive pebble beach lapped by clear, shallow waters. If you walk along the shore from here you’ll be able to reach other smaller beaches.

-Diving. It’s easy to see why Croatia is one of Europe’s fastest-growing diving destinations. Cavtat is the next town along the coast, and its waters conceal one of Europe’s largest underwater archaeological sites. Dive trips are arranged to see some of the 1800 amphorae dating to the 1st and 2nd Centuries in a narrow channel between the mainland and offshore islands.

-Outdoor activities. The landscape becomes mountainous just a short way inland, which creates all kinds of exciting hiking and cycling routes. Experienced walkers could take the “Ronald Brown" trail, which heads straight out of coastal Cavtat into a formidable mountain environment, with exceptional views and species such as Hermann’s Tortoises to spot along the route.

-Dubrovnik. During your stay at a holiday home in Konavle, this city should be near the top of your ‘things to see’ list. It’s described as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ and is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site for the wide array of towers, churches and palaces that lie within its intact city walls, which span two kilometres.

-Ston. One of the best day-trips to be taken in the region is this town, northwest of Dubrovnik. It boasts the distinction of having Europe’s longest stone defensive wall, which is 4.3 miles in length and features ramparts and towers. What’s more, there’s another medieval defence system inside these walls, which is nearly a mile in length.
