Holiday homes in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta are just right for seclusion and relaxation. Private pools, spacious shaded gardens and far-reaching views ensure plenty of rest and indulgence, and everything is on hand for a self-contained holiday. But so convenient is this location that cultural visits, days lazing by the Mediterranean, outdoor activities and sightseeing trips to Barcelona are always available at an apartment in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta.

    Things to do

-Beaches: The Maresme coast is celebrated for its small, intimate resorts next to wide sandy beaches, many of which have Blue Flag status commending their upkeep and amenities. Sant Pol de Mar is the closest, and offers six different beaches—La Platjola and Les Escaletes are on the resort’s waterfront and complemented by seafood restaurants and shops. El Molí is away from the town and more wild in appearance, with a long strip of fine white sand.

-Outdoor activities: Sant Cebrià de Vallalta is in the foothills of the Montnegre mountain range, with moderate peaks, ancient oak trees and large swathes of fragrant pine forest. In winter, spring, early summer or autumn a walk or bike ride here would be perfect to get away from it all. Across the landscape are historic fragments of human settlement, from Neolithic dolmens to medieval chapels and crumbling old stone farmhouses.

-Local culture: Sant Pol de Mar boasts the Church of Sant Jaume, dating to the 16th century but especially interesting because its bell-tower is actually a converted defensive tower dating back several centuries before the church was built. Calella close by has several handsome old townhouses such as Salvador from the 1300s and Sivilla from the 1500s. The Catalan modernist architect Manuel Puigvert, a contemporary of Antoni Gaudí, designed the promenade in Calella.

-Barcelona: This is the place for anyone who really wants to delve into modernism, a kind of offshoot of art nouveau. In the late-19th century and early 20th century Gaudí left his mark on Barcelona, designing the otherworldly basilica La Sagrada Família, the iconic Park Güell and a host of apartment buildings such as La Pedrera and Casa Batlló, all of which are top visitor attractions and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many other reasons to visit Barcelona, from the world-class shopping and dining to the countless high-profile sights and attractions.

-Cuisine: Most of the resorts on the Maresme coast were once humble fishing villages, and the sea continues to have a strong bearing on the regional diet. Traditional dishes like Suquet de Peix (a soup with potatoes, prawns, white fish and almonds) are served in many local restaurants. Strawberries are grown throughout the Vallalta area and are in season in early summer.
