    Things to do

-Beaches: There’s a huge choice of destinations for those who want some beach time. The nearest Blue Flag beach is also just a few minutes up the coast at Mataro.

-Local heritage: As this area grew in popularity among wealthy Barcelona residents during the early-20th century, there are a lot of examples of Catalan modernist architecture to admire in the neighbouring towns. El Masnou has a small itinerary listing the most attractive local buildings from this period. It’s also an area known for its many small museums; El Masnou has attractions for mining and ship building, while Premiá de Mar has museums relating to local celebrations and printed textiles.

Families could visit the massive aquarium in Barceloneta and walk the famous Rambla, while there’s first-class dining and shopping all across the city, but especially in Eixample and Gràcia.

-Food and drink: As the landscape suggests, Cabrils is next to the Alella Designation of Origin wine region, which is made up of seven vineyards producing a range of wine varieties including Pinot Noir, Merlot and Chardonnay. Tours are available and there’s a museum about the region in the town of Alella. Food-wise, this is a good location to try Spanish favourites like paella and the many different seafood tapas dishes, like deep-fried baby squid.
