    Things to do

    Soi Sunset Street:

The western end of the Ao Nang beach is a pedestrian alley lined with seafood restaurants, complete with beautiful views of the ocean and adjacent islands. Here, the seafood is truly fresh; with competition for business intense, visitors are advised to take a stroll and then decide where to eat.

    Shell Cemetery:

This interesting museum is situated 5.5 miles from Ao Nang. Massive slabs made from millions of miniature fossils as old as 75 million years are on display here. The visitor centre provides further information and sells drinks and snacks.

    Ao Nang Beach:

This long stretch of sand has a huge limestone rock face to the south as well as an imposing rock tower offshore. The water is clear, making it ideal for swimming and snorkelling. An array of open-air shops, bars, and massage parlours dot the beach.

    Railay Beach:

This is one of Thailand's most frequently visited beaches, located to the south of Ao Nang Beach. It is only accessible via boat and the trip itself is beautiful. White sand beaches, glistening green waters, limestone cliffs, caves, and lagoons await those who make the trip.

    Local Markets:

Both Ao Nang and nearby Krabi Town have lively markets. Fresh local vegetables and fruits as well as any number of delicacies are found here; the fish selection is particularly impressive. Weekends are lively thanks to an influx of vendors and visitors.

    Diving:

Two islands are found just off the coast of Ao Nang Beach: Koh Podah Nai and Koh Podah Nok. The coastlines of these islands provide for some terrific diving and snorkelling. Here the coral is abundant and the fish varieties are eclectic. There are also underwater caves that are easily explored.
