A wonderful island paradise holiday filled with fascinating history and culture awaits visitors to the island of Viti Levu in Fiji. This is the largest of the 300 or so Fijian islands and is thought to be the oldest too. Here visitors will find numerous different places to stay including self catering accommodation, cottages, inns and beach lodges.

Things to do on holiday to Viti Levu, Fiji

As you would expect on a Fijian island, there are some lovely beaches to relax on or alternatively visitors can try out some watersports such as swimming, snorkelling, diving, surfing and sailing. The beautiful scenery provides a great area to enjoy long walks with the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park and Mount Korobaba particularly striking areas for trekking.

There is plenty on offer here for holidaymakers seeking some exercise such as tennis, mountain biking and horse riding. Viti Levu has several places to enjoy a round of golf too including three courses in Nadi. In Suva there is a large swimming pool near Victoria Parade with a kid’s play area.

Places to visit on holiday to Viti Levu, Fiji

There are many interesting places of natural beauty on Viti Levu as well as lush gardens including the botanical garden at the University of the South Pacific and the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. Fiji’s only Wildlife Park is Kula Eco Park, which is located on the island at Queen's Highway Sigatoka.

Visitors can learn more about the history of this pretty country and in particular Viti Levu through the Fiji Museum in Suva. There are some fantastic buildings here too such as the Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple and the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Boat trips and excursions are offered here with trips to other Fijian islands. The Sigatoka River Safari is a particularly popular trip for tourists.
