    The Indonesian island of Bali, lies just south of the Equator and measures 95 miles wide and 69 miles from north to south. Sanur is one of the main beach resorts on the beautiful southern coast of the island of Bali. The town’s history goes back for centuries with some of the oldest writings on Bali being preserved at the small local temple. Although many hotels, shops and restaurants have grown up around Sanur, it still retains its cultural customs and way of life as a fishing village. The area is popular with ex-pats as it has an international school and is generally quieter than other popular nightspots.

    The beach at Sanur is ideal for sunbathing and relaxing in the warm waters. There is a reef just offshore which makes conditions ideal for surfing and keeps the inner lagoon waters calm. Swimming can be enjoyed at high tide. There is a 5km promenade for strolling along from your Bali holiday rental. It is lined with small beachside restaurants offering drinks and snacks. On the outskirts of Sanur are the American fast food chains such as McDonalds and KFC. The pub in Sanur provides live music but there are no major nightclubs around your holiday rental in Sanur. One excellent local experience to try is the “lulur” body scrub, a cleansing treatment usually performed before a wedding.     Along the local road in North Samur is the local Museum Le Mayeur and the Prasasti Blanjong which preserves the 10th century inscriptions written on a stone pillar. Bali’s best known attractions are the Hindu temples and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana, a monument of the Vishnu riding the mythical Garuda bird.
