The region of Valencia is in the middle of Spain’s Mediterranean coast, between Madrid and Barcelona. The region is famed for its beaches, the festival of Las Fallas and the fabulous shopping in Valencia City.

Places to holiday in Valencia, Spain

The city of Valencia is one of the biggest in Spain, and has beaches at the heart of the city, with scuba diving, cycling and golf on offer as well as sizzling nightlife and many vibrant celebrations of Spain’s favourite son, El Cid. The old town is filled with historic monuments from the Moors conquest in 1238 including the Cathedral and Basilica de la Virgen de los Desamparados.

Further down the Coasta Blanca is Gandia, a thriving centre of commerce and beach town. Gandia city houses the historical monuments like the 14th Century Palacio Ducal de los Borja, and commerce centres, whilst the Gandia beaches boast excellent facilities, bars and some of the best luxury holiday villas in Valencia. Gandia also provides a service town for the popular resorts of Javea and Denia.

On the northern tip of the Costa Blanca, Oliva has 10km of uncrowded, sandy beaches and there many new luxury villas for rent in the area, although the town has not changed its character in any way for the tourist market. The Oliva Nova Golf and Country club dominates the coastline, which tempts golfers from around the globe. The strong coastal winds also provide perfect conditions form sailing, windsurfing and kite-boarding.

The Valencia region is famed for its beaches. Las Fellas in March is the most unique festival in Spain. A five day celebration of St Joseph has also become a magnificent celebration of fire, where the town is set ablaze by large crowds of rowdy revellers!
