    The walled town of Lazise sits on the east shore of Lake Garda, 25km from Verona. The town is a prime example of a quaint Italian fishing village that has become a popular tourist destination, as many visitors attempt to find the most traditional Lake Garda town.     Surrounded by ancient town walls, the oldest part of Lazise has retained its medieval feel and is dominated by a 14th Century castle. One of the best preserved examples of its type in the Garda area, the castle is situated in the Villa Bernini Park, and the best part of a day can be spent in and around the old building, incorporating a picnic in the grounds for lunch. Other notable sights in the area include the 13th Century San Zeno and the 12th century San Nicolo churches.
