Things to do

Cave of Antiparos:

Since ancient times visitors have left inscriptions on the walls of the multi-tiered Cave of Antiparos. Though it was partially damaged during the German occupation in World War II, the cave has since been restored and adjusted for tourism with steps and adequate lighting. The cave is the most popular tourist destination on the entire island.

Castle of Antiparos:

This Venetian castle is the result of a political marriage between Venetian Giovanni Loredano and Mary Sommaripa of Paros. This castle is typical of the period in which it was built, though it was used as a church for a time, and the upper floors collapsed at some point.

Museum of Antiparos:

Many great archaeological finds have been made on Antiparos and are on view at the local museum. Some of these pieces date back as far as the Neolithic period. The pieces include arrowheads, pottery, and a figure called the Fat Lady of Saliagos.

Glifa Beach:

Visit Glifa Beach, located on the southern tip of Antiparos. This pristine beach is located about four miles from the main town of Chora. Glifa Beach is somewhat secluded and less crowded than other beaches. The beach is shaded by trees, particularly in the late afternoon.

Blue Island Divers:

Take a class or tour with Blue Island Divers. This diving school brings both beginners and pro divers to diving locations along the coast of Antiparos. Classes on underwater photography and open-water diving are also available. The Blue Island Divers office is located in Korali.

Ios:

Travel to the nearby island of Ios. Ios is located directly south of Antiparos and has a population of just over 2,000 people. The excavation sites at Skarkos Hill are particularly interesting. This island was a favourite location of hippies travelling in the 1970s. The beaches that hippies camped on have now been turned into tourist developments.

Yearly winds called the Etesians (or Meltemi in Turkish) blow from mid-May to mid-September. These winds are most active in the late afternoon and die down in the evening. The Etesians are most dangerous for sailors.
