Jersey is the southernmost of the British Channel Islands and also the largest. It is a British Crown Dependency but is situated far closer to the coast of France than it is to the mainland of UK, sitting just off the coast of Normandy. Another famous castle is Elizabeth Castle. This also is open to the public and accessible by walking across a causeway, though only at low tide. However, weather permitting there is also a vehicle that can transport visitors to the castle at other times too, so you won’t be stuck out there all night!
