When the time comes to take things easy, Cap d’Artrutx apartments will be a stress-free escape, full of luxurious features such as private pools and secluded gardens. Most rentals are whitewashed in the traditional Menorcan style, and sit within a stone’s throw of the Mediterranean.

    Things to do

-Beaches: The beach at Cala'n Bosch is easy to get to from Cap d’Artrutx, and offers a curve of white sand that shelves gently below the water’s edge. The shallow sea here is very calm, and suited to swimmers of all abilities. Within a short car trip there are some beautiful coves to discover, like Cala Turqueta and Cala Macarella, which are just as safe, but also a little more secluded.

-Family activities: With the arresting scenery of one of the Mediterranean’s truly unspoiled islands all around, there’s plenty of fun waiting for families in this part of Menorca. There’s a zoo, a water park, horse stables, a go-kart centre, as well as outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, golf and sea kayaking. Menorca’s coastline is great for kayaking, due to its wealth of sheltered bays and coves.

-Heritage: Ciutadella de Menorca is no more than a few minutes up the west coast, and, as the island’s historic former capital, contains lots of interesting old buildings and quaint cobblestone streets. Much of the architecture here is Italian in style and was constructed in the 1600s. A notable exception is the Cathedral, dating to the 14th century and in the Catalan gothic style, but with a neoclassical facade.

-Diving: With such an indented coastline and a commitment to preserving its natural splendour, Menorca is simply made for diving. At Cap d’Artrutx there’s a dive centre offering trips to see underwater caverns, reefs, shipwrecks and archaeological sites as well as abundant wildlife. P.A.D.I. courses are available, from taster sessions, right up to divemaster qualifications.

-Day trips: As Menorca has more beaches than any other Balearic island, it pays to have a sense of adventure here. Some fantastic examples can be found on the rugged northern coast, like the beautiful and remote Cala del Pilar. For foodies one of Spain’s favourite cheeses is produced on Menorca—although it takes its name from the island’s capital, Mahon cheese is made at a number of locations, including Sant Patrici, just outside Ferreries.
