Nearby Bayonne has everything you need to get started, with surf schools and a number of local businesses selling or renting out equipment. Capbreton, minutes to the north is said to be one of the best surf beaches on the Silver Coast.

The riverfront of the Nive, which is one of two rivers to flow through Bayonne is incredibly picturesque, and is lined by medieval half-timbered buildings. Bayonne’s cathedral and its Gothic 18th Century cloister are also essential sights.
