      Things to do from your villa in the Disney area

      -Walt Disney World. Perhaps the world’s most famous theme resort, Disney World boasts four distinct theme parks – the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom, as well as two water parks Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. As if that’s not enough, these world-class attractions are accompanied by shopping districts, entertainment complexes and no fewer than five golf courses.

      -Other theme parks. There’s the famous rival to Disney World, Universal Studios, which features two world-class theme parks, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. SeaWorld is an attraction themed around marine life and boasting a host of rides and shows. Its sister attraction, Discovery Cove, offers one-off experiences like swimming with dolphins.

      -Downtown Orlando. At the heart of Orlando you’ll be able to enjoy all the entertainment, restaurants, shopping, nightlife and cultural attractions you’d expect from a modern city. Orange Avenue is where the best nightspots and eateries can be found. There are also great museum close by, like the Orlando Science Centre and Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art.

      -Golf. With 21 public and private courses in the Orlando area, golf fans will be as giddy as the kids at a theme park. There are some superb affordable options like the municipal course at Dubsdread, or the public golf resort at Grand Cypress, which comprises four different courses and state-of-the-art practice facilities.

      -Shopping. World-class retail therapy is afforded by Orlando thanks to the volume of malls in the area. There are upmarket choices like the chic Mall at Millenia and the Florida Mall, but you’ll also be able to pick up bargains at the Orlando Premium Outlet malls on Vineland Avenue and International Drive.

      Weather in the Disney area

      Disney area villas are located in a region where subtropical and tropical climate zones meet. This means that you can expect warm or hot weather for most of the year, with particularly humid conditions in the summer and autumn months. From November to May the weather is dry, with temperatures increasingly considerably from month to month after February. The hottest month of the year is Jul, when daytime temperatures reach the mid-30s or more. The coolest month is January, with highs in the low-20s and less than half the rainfall of July.

      Travel to the Disney area

      The best way to get around during your holiday in the Disney Area is by car, with a host of rental car company branches located at Orlando International Airport (MCO). The roads are well maintained, and all of the top attractions are clearly signposted. When it comes to public transport the LYNX bus network is clean, cheap and efficient and serves the entire Orlando metropolitan area. Orlando Airport is Florida’s busiest airport and is a short drive southeast of the city’s downtown area and no more than half an hour from Disney World.
