Make a holiday apartment in Cala Vadella your home away from home

At a Cala Vadella holiday apartment you’ll get to experience Ibiza at its calmest and most picturesque. The coastline on this part of this island is rocky, fringed by pine forest and largely free of mass tourism. But nestled between the craggy outcrops are beautiful sandy coves with crystal clear waters. Cala Vadella holiday homes are in a part of Ibiza where those with a bit of curiosity will always be rewarded. On coastal walks you can find secluded coves and friendly little restaurants. Still, you might find it hard to leave the comfort of your holiday home in Cala Vadella – most rentals feature private pools, AC, Internet access and many other amenities to ensure a thoroughly relaxing getaway..

Things to do

-Local beach. The beach at Cala Vadella is lovely. You’ll find a 250-metre-long stretch of pale sand bookended by steep and rocky hills. As the bay is so sheltered, the sea is calm and perfectly clear, making it a superb spot for swimming or anchoring yachts. There’s also a very gentle slope, so Cala Verdalla is ideal for less experienced and younger swimmers.

-Beaches nearby. Cala Salada and Cala d’Hort are two other choices on the west coast. Cala Salada is backed by pine-covered hills and is another protected sandy cove, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. You can also hire pedaloes and find a good range of facilities here. Ten minutes from Cala Vadella, Cala d’Hort is an intimate, crescent shaped beach that sits beneath cliffs and offers a mix of sand and pebbles.

-Walks. The southwestern corner of Ibiza is quite sparsely populated, with low-key development and large areas of natural beauty. Just a few steps inland is Ibiza’s tallest peak, Sa Talaia at just under 500 metres. You can join a hiking route from the village of Sant Josep, for a challenging hike that shouldn’t last more than two hours. A gentler but longer walk can be taken along the indented and rocky coast here, from Cala Bou to Playas del Comte.

-Ibiza town. The “Dalt Vila” or old town here is beautifully conserved and protected by Renaissance walls and gates. Such is the architectural significance that the old town has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Beyond the gates you’ll find the Cathedral, dating to the 1300s, the town hall, which was once a convent, and a beautiful Episcopal palace.

-Cuisine. Ibiza has a cuisine that reflects the many cultures that visited the island in the past, and continue to flock here today. Time-honoured techniques are evident in pastries like flaons, which are semi-circular and can be either sweet or savoury, with cheese, sugar or honey fillings. Traditional main dishes are often seafood-based, such as bollit de peix (fish stew) or “arros a la marinera” a rice dish with mixed seafood.

By September there are wetter conditions, carrying through to autumn with end of the year bringing much of the annual rainfall. On a normal winter’s day on Ibiza temperatures get up to 13 or 14 degrees, and there are still many clear days, even in January and February.
