A Curacao holiday means much more than sand, sea and sun. There are many attractions spanning the whole of the island which are definitely worth a visit. In particular, the Curacao Sea Aquarium is a wonderful activity. The aquarium is located on the south-western side of the island, sits on the beachfront and has a unique “open water system”, which means that the water pumped around the aquariums is sea water. There is the opportunity to snorkel with and hand feed creatures such as sharks and stingrays. Joined on to the aquarium is The Dolphin Academy, where visitors who have a certified diver’s license can swim with these beautiful and intelligent creatures.

Situated a few miles north of the capital of Willemstad are the Hato Caves. These are limestone rock formations that took on various forms during several Ice Ages. The caves have been used by various settlers on the island throughout the years including the Amerindian Arawaks who have left behind some wonderful cave paintings. Nature lovers may also be able to spot the colony of Long Nose Fruit Bats that reside in the caves.
