Make a holiday apartment in Moncofar your home away from home

Moncofar holiday homes are great for family beach holidays. Two superb beaches are within easy reach, one of which has Blue Flag status for its great services and cleanliness. Away from the surf there's no shortage of interesting things to see and do near Moncofar holiday apartments, with prehistoric caves, Roman ruins and the fabulous range of attractions and sights offered by the city of Valencia, easy to get to by road or rail. Holiday homes in Moncofar are new constructions, considerately laid out for families and placed within reach of local amenities like shops, golf courses and, of course, beautiful beaches.

    Things to do

-Beaches. A gorgeous local beach is Pedra Rotja, which has earned Blue Flag recognition. It's 500 metres in length, with small pebbles and modest waves. A golden sandy beach can be found just up the coast at Nules - this beach is much longer, extending for more than four kilometres. Both beaches have a comfortable sea temperature in the mid-20s during the summer.

-Local sights. Just outside La Vall d'Uixo is the Cave of Saint Joseph, essentially a network of caves that were inhabited up to around 15,000 years ago. You'll be able to see paintings from this time, and each visit entails a boat ride for half a kilometre. Down from Moncofar is Sagunt, known for its Roman theatre, which is still used for events. North is Castellon de la Plana with its many medieval and renaissance buildings, among them The Fadri, an octagonal bell-tower.

-Valencia. This city merits the trip from Moncofar thanks to its historical and cultural wealth. See the City of Art and Science, displaying some stunning modern architecture that houses high-profile attractions such as the largest aquarium in Europe. The Silk Exchange in Barrio del Carmen is important both for its beautiful Valencian Gothic architecture, but also as the source of the city's wealth in the late-Medieval period.

-Natural scenery. Away from the coast, the Serra d'Espada offers an exciting alternative. It's a mountainous region protected as a Natural Park. The lower portions of the park feature countless olive groves contributing to a designation of origin olive oil. Elsewhere there are large cork-oak forests, natural springs and deep ravines to explore on marked walking paths.

-Gastronomy. In the Castellon province the cuisine blends elements from both Catalonia and Valencia, which lie to the north and south. The wealth of olive groves place olives and olive oil at the centre of many recipes. The sauce Aioli is a frequent accompaniment to various meats and seafood. The paella here is also superb, as rice is grown in many Castellon municipalities.

    Weather in Moncofar

There's a warm Mediterranean climate around holiday apartments in Moncofar. Temperatures are either warm or mild all year round. If you arrive in summer then lots of hot weather will be in store, with highs of at least 30 degrees in July and August. Rain is infrequent at any time of year, occurring in isolated spells in autumn and winter, but almost never in mid-summer. The spring and autumn seasons here are brief and pleasantly warm, while winters last for around three months and see highs in the mid-teens during the day.

    Travel to Moncofar

The airport for this region is Valencia (VLC), one of Spain's top ten airports and receiving plenty of traffic from the UK in summer, mostly with low-cost airlines. Moncofar is a half-hour drive up the AP-7, a toll-road that runs alongside the coast. Another way to get to a Moncofar holiday rental is via the C-6 suburban rail line, which ruins between Valencia-Nord and Castello de la Plana. Valencia is well-connected when it comes to rail routes, with a new high-speed line to Madrid, and long-distance railway to Barcelona.
