Torre Santa Sabina is a traditional Italian seaside resort situated 27km along the coast from the capital of the province, Brindisi. Self-catering in the area mainly consists of luxury whitewashed villas just a short distance from the half-moon beach which he town is famous for. Torre Santa Sabina is also the prefect base for those that wish to visit cities such as Bari, Brindisi and Lecce, being within short travelling time of all of them.
The bay area is a particularly pleasant part of town, where you can relax at the water’s edge, or enjoy a coffee in one of the cafe-bars. This is also where you will find most of the action in Torre Santa Sabina, with a number of restaurants near the waterfront, as well as several shops, bakeries and nightclubs. The pizzeria is always a good option for an evening meal, and uses fresh, local ingredients to create dishes that put supermarket pizzas to shame.
The half-moon shaped beach is clean, sandy and ideal for families. As well as being the perfect place to relax on the long, hot summer’s days that Torre Santa Sabina receives, this is also the place to try out a variety of water sports, or just enjoy a paddle in the warm sea.
The Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve is just a short distance away, and the ideal destination for those looking to head away from the tourist development. Torre Guaceto is a protected area, meaning untouched beaches, rugged coastline and some excellent nature walks. Cycling and hiking are great ways of exploring this area, and there is a visitor centre to offer maps and advice to make the most out of your visit.
Ostuni – the so-called ‘White Town’ is just 11km inland from Torre Santa Sabina, and has pristine beaches and some fantastic examples of architecture which draw many tourists. The ancient city of Brindisi, 26km along the coast, also has much to see and do, and there are an abundance of other cities, towns and villages just a short distance from Torre Santa Sabina, so you will not be short of day trip options during your stay.
A Mediterranean climate means that Torre Santa Sabina experiences average high temperatures of around 28C during summer months, with welcoming coastal breezes cooling proceedings slightly. Rainfall is relatively low all year round, and mild temperatures mean a visit can be enjoyed at any time of the year.
Torre Santa Sabina can be reached via a flight from London Stansted to Brindisi Airport (BDS) through Ryanair, or by flying to Bari International Airport (BRI) from London Gatwick through British Airways. Brindisi is the nearer option, but flying to Bari gives you the potential for a stop-over in the fascinating coastal city.
