Holidaymakers looking for a beautiful island resort with wonderful scenic views might like to head for Tarpum Bay in the Bahamas. Locals say this inland salt water lake is bottomless and although it is a mile from the sea, it is filled with salt water fish. Another natural attraction on the southern tip of the island is Lighthouse Beach. Rock Sound is just a short drive from Tarpum Bay and has a delightful Anglican church as well as being the largest shopping centre on the island. Holidaymakers may also like to take a boat trip to the beautiful Spanish Wells and Harbour Island, where there are some beautiful pink sandy beaches. The north of the island has some interesting natural features too such as the Hatchet Bay Caves and Preacher’s Cave.

The warmest month is August with an average high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the coolest being January with an average high of 76 degrees Fahrenheit. On average thee driest month is April with slightly less than an inch of rainfall, while November is the wettest with an average of 5.4 inches.
Rock Sound Airport (RSD) is approximately 10 minutes drive from Tarpum Bay. Holidaymakers can take a flight to Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), which is near the capital city of the Bahamas, Nassau and get a connecting flight to Rock Sound Airport with Bahamasair. Flights arrive at Nassau from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), London-Gatwick (LGW), Miami (MIA) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ). Car rentals firms are located on the island.
