Holidaymakers looking for a hot area in the south west of the United States may like to try Tahoe City in California. Visitors can enjoy many interesting things to do and see in this lovely area. Tahoe City is located in a very scenic area that is great for exploring by hiking, cycling and horse riding. There are numerous water based activities available on Lake Tahoe and other waterways. There is a terrific choice of bars, cafes and restaurants in Tahoe City serving American as well as international fare. In addition to this, self catering holidaymakers can purchase food and drink from various stores and markets in the city.
There are numerous interesting places to visit in and around Tahoe City, with lots of museums such as North Lake Tahoe Historical Society and Gatekeepers Museum and the Watson Living Cabin Museum. Visitors interested in art can also pay a visit to the James Harold Galleries and North Tahoe Arts. The Cobblestone Cinema is the place to go and see first run movies. There are some fine buildings well worth visiting here too such as St. Nicholas Episcopal Church and Hellman-Ehrman Mansion.
The weather is hottest in July and August with average temperatures of about 76 degrees Fahrenheit. The coldest time of the year is January and December when the average temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit. January is also the wettest month with 3.7 inches of rainfall on average. June through to August sees very little rainfall with an average of just 0.1 inches each month.
Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is approximately two hours and 10 minute’s drive from Tahoe City. Flights arrive here from numerous U.S cities including Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), Los Angeles (LAX) and Salt Lake City (SLC) amongst others. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz and National are car rental firms located at the airport. Overseas visitors can fly to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and get a connecting flight to Sacramento. Flights arrive at Los Angeles from numerous international airports including Amsterdam (AMS), Beijing Capital (PEK), Frankfurt (FRA), London-Heathrow (LHW), Madrid (MAD), Moscow-Sheremetyevo (SME), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Tokyo-Narita (NRT) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ).
