See a different side of Florida by choosing a holiday villa in Summerfield. Inland Florida is often ignored for the glamour and attractions of the beaches, Everglades and theme parks of Orlando. But Summerfield holiday homes offer a tranquil and relaxing time amid the lakes, rivers and woodland of central Florida, and especially the vast expanses of the Ocala National Forest. The beaches are not out of reach, however, with either coast being only an hour or so away, as is Orlando. All Summerfield holiday rentals come equipped with all the modern conveniences to be expected in the American market, including air-conditioning, dishwashers, washer/dryers, cable or satellite TV. Most accommodation at Summerfield also comes with access to a pool and BBQ area, and a DVD player.
-Nature: For lovers of nature, Summerfield holiday accommodation is right on the doorstep of the Ocala National Forest and one of the most well-known recreation areas on the east coast: Juniper Springs. For hiking, biking, boating and camping, guests have hundreds of square miles to explore.
-Beaches: While there are beaches around the many lakes in the area, for the sandy beaches that Florida is known for, the coast is the only option. Heading either east or west gets guests to the sand and surf in around an hour.
-Theme Parks: For a little adrenalin-inducing excitement to contrast with the peaceful rural setting of Summerfield, the famous amusement parks of Orlando are just an hour's drive away. The biggies, like Disney World and Universal Studios, can literally take days to explore.
-Nightlife: Nightlife in Summerfield is, at best, subdued. There are a few bars around, and a couple of chain restaurants, but guests typically don't choose Summerfield for its nightlife. Ocala is ten miles to the north and has a much more happening scene, while the excesses of Orlando are just over an hour away in the car.
-Watersports: Kayaking, canoeing and fishing are some of the more popular activities around Summerfield, thanks largely to the proximity of Juniper Springs Recreation Area and the many surrounding lakes. Bigger boats are available from nearby marinas for those who like combustion-powered fun.
It's no secret subtropical Florida gets hot in the summer. Though perhaps not as hot as other summer destinations like some areas of the Mediterranean, the humidity adds to the heat. This usually results in thunderstorms later in the day, which supply Florida with the majority of its annual precipitation. Summer temperatures max out in the mid-30°C range, while winters are drier and milder with daily highs getting into the low-20s.
Summerfield's proximity to Orlando make it the perfect choice for flying into. Of course, flying and driving is really the only viable option for holidaying in America, and Orlando-Sanford International Airport is the nearest option at 61 miles away. For another choice, Orlando International Airport (one city, two international airports) is a little further afield at 71. For an American city, Orlando does have a fairly decent public transport system, but it doesn't stretch out to the Summerfield area. Orlando also has a Greyhound and Amtrak station if a bus or train trip looks attractive.
