Although it is one of the most overworked clichés in the book, the term tropical paradise actually does fit Siesta Key, Florida. Found in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the Sarasota coastline in western Florida, Siesta Key is home to some of the whitest, cleanest and most picturesque beaches in Florida, and when you consider the standard of competition, that is a huge claim. A Siesta Key holiday rental villa is the perfect base for any holiday, from action packed beach breaks to secluded, tropical romantic getaways.
If you rent Siesta Key accommodation you will spend a large proportion of your time lazing on the beaches. Due to the purity and softness of the gleaming white sands, even the most blasé of visitors will be completely transfixed by a day sunbathing. The international award-winning beach at Crescent Beach is a particularly special place to go from a Siesta Key holiday rental, although trying to get your family to leave in the evening may pose problems! Crescent Beach isn’t the quietest spot on the island, but there are public tennis and volleyball courts for your enjoyment. If you are looking for a quiet spot from a Siesta Key holiday rental, try Turtle Beach or Palmer Point.
The beaches are not only a great place to relax and sunbathe from a Siesta Key villa. They also act as a great base from which to enjoy a range of water sports. Sailing, windsurfing and snorkelling all thrive from Siesta Key’s beaches, and there are many fishing trips out into the Gulf which leave from the beaches too. The deep sea fishing here is absolutely magnificent, with boats often returning with huge trophy fish.
Siesta Key is a very natural place too. Mass tourism has thankfully left the barrier island alone, leaving nature as the strongest influence on the islands development. Many rare species of plant thrive here, as well as a huge amount of birdlife. Tropical parrots, pelicans, egrets, spoonbills, storks and cranes can all be spotted from a Siesta Key lodging, as can dolphins and manatees if you rent Siesta Key accommodation on the beach.
As well as golf course and top restaurants, Siesta Key offers some great nightlife too. There are regular concerts, galleries, operas and theatrical performances occurring, as there are many fun bars in which to pass the evenings if watching the sun setting over the distant horizon isn’t going to pass the time well enough!
Florida’s climate is exceptional. Monthly temperatures remain between 31˚C and 21˚C throughout the year, with temperatures in the middle of the day reaching the mid 30’s with alarming consistency. Even late into the evenings you can sit outside in your shirt sleeves, with a chilled drink in hand, gazing at the horizon.
The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), which lies just north of Siesta Key on the mainland, makes reaching a holiday rental on Siesta Key remarkably easy from the UK. Although it does not receive direct flights from the UK, it is well connected to many airports on the east coast.
