The area around Setubal has some fabulous sandy beaches. Comporta Beach is close by in the Sado Estuary National Park. It is popular for surfing and kite surfing along with other watersports.

Places to Visit Near Setubal, Lisbon Igreja de Jesus
Setubal's most visited attraction is the cathedral designed by Diogo de Boitaca. It was built in 1491 and is the first manueline style building in the country. The high altar is surrounded by azulejos, the blue and white tiles for which Portugal is renowned. See the church treasures in the Galeria da Pincture Quinhentista.
Parque Natural da Arrabida
This lovely park has a sandy beach but is best known for its varied wildlife and the granite ridge which provided stone for the local cathedral. It is easy to reach by local bus from your Setubal holiday villa.
Lisbon
Lisbon, Portugal's lovely capital city, is just 50km from your holiday villa at Setubal. It is located at the mouth of the Tagus River. Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and its castle, architecture, museums and history reflect this. It has some fabulous buildings in the old town and beautiful plazas for dining al fresco. There are two UNESCO World Heritage Sites at Belem, the glorious Jeronimos Monastery and the Belem Tower, a decorative fortress guarding the harbour entrance.
