The capital city of Portugal is Lisbon, and it is just 38 km from your villa in Sesimbra. World heritage monuments and many museums make Lisbon a great city of culture, with UNESCO World Heritage status. The Jeronimos Monastery and Belem Tower are two of the most well-known landmarks of the city. The seven hills of Lisbon give excellent viewpoints of the city. The medieval squares and architecture are decorated with mosaics and carved stonework.
Back in the 21st century, the Oceanarium is also an excellent attraction to visit in Lisbon.
Azeitao - At the other end of the scale is the sleepy village of Azeitao, which has many fine mansions including the decorative Quinta da Bacalhoa. The Fonseca Winery produces some of Portugal’s best red table wine here and is a fun place to take a guided tour.
