Breckenridge ski resort, often known simply as “Breck”, is one of America’s most visited ski resorts. The historic town has just 4,500 permanent residents although many other part-time residents own vacation homes in the area.
In summer, visitors staying in holiday homes at Breckenridge Peak 8 are attracted to the superb outdoor activities that this area offers. There are miles of hiking trails through the scenic alpine meadows and peaks within this area of the Rocky Mountains. Wild flowers bloom in abundance in early summer and wildlife makes this a naturalist’s paradise. Fly-fishing in the Blue River, a tributary of the Colorado River, is legendary. Try boating on Lake Dillon, white water rafting or horse riding in the area. Jeep tours, hot air balloon rides and golf are all available. In winter, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, sleigh rides and Nordic skiing can all be enjoyed.
Places to visit from your holiday chalet in Breckenridge include historic Main Street with its range of small gift shops, art galleries and cafés. In the summer it hosts a popular Fourth of July Parade and the Breckenridge Film Festival. The lovely Father Dyer Church is well worth a visit. Established in 1880 it has a beautiful stained glass window. There are plenty of mining ruins nearby which depict the area’s history. The area lends itself to some challenging mountain bike rides, and the Peaks Trail connects Breckenridge with Frisco and the Flume Loops.
Breckenridge Peak 8 holiday cabins experience warm summers reaching 73°F (23°C) in July and August. In winter the temperatures drop to well below freezing (0°F -18°C) from late November to April, giving the area plenty of deep snowfall for winter sports. It has a high-alpine climate with an elevation of 9,600 feet (2926m). The wettest month with the most rainfall is July with 1.75 inches (44mm). Showers decrease throughout the summer and autumn. In winter the area has an average 163 inches of snow.
The main airport serving holiday rentals in Breckenridge Peak 8 is Denver International (DEN) Airport which is about 104 miles from the resort. This busy airport is served by a number of airlines including American Airlines, JetBlue, British Airways, Lufthansa, Delta and Iberia Airlines, among others. It is easy to drive west to Breckenridge along the I-70 to Hwy 9. Other local airports in the area are the Aspen-Pitkin County (ASE) Airport near Aspen and the Eagle County Regional (EGE) Airport at Eagle, Colorado.
