Make a holiday rental, home or cottage in the heart of England your home away from home

The region of England known as the 'Heart of England' covers the region of the West Midlands including the counties of Gloucestershire, Hereford & Worcester, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptionshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire.

Things to do in the Heart of England

It was written in the 1800's that the Heart of England was 'one of the pleasantest places to walk', and this has certainly not changed since then. It is a magnificent place to travel by foot, bicycle or tour by car. There are many places explore, and historical sites dating back to before the Roman invasion, with impressive castles, ancient burial sites, battlefields and cathedrals wrapped in mystery and intrigue, from Tamworth Castle to the Robin Hood Festival or see Shakespeare at the open air theatre in Tolethorpe Hall.

For outdoor activities, the Ackers Urban Outdoor Adventurous Activity Centre is 2 miles from Birmingham. Here, skiing, climbing, canoeing, archery, orienteering and 4x4 off roading can be enjoyed across the counties.

The West Midlands Safari and Leisure Park is a magnificent theme park, with rides, amusements, and also the only place in the UK to have bred white lions.

Places to holiday in the Heart of England

Gloucestershire's Cotswolds are a huge visitor attraction. The famous cities of Bath and Cheltenham lie within the gentle hills of the Cotswolds, but the real beauty lies in the hidden villages and hamlets, where small English holiday cottages nestle amongst the fields and drystone walls.

Shropshire, the birthplace of industry, is a beautiful place for walking. The UNESCO World Heritage site around Ironbridge is a must see site for those interested in the industrial heritage of Great Britain. Shropshire also holds the most Michelin Stars outside London, and two of the best medieval towns in England. The self catering holiday cottages in Shropshire are superb, and get you deep into the best of England's countryside, where relaxation and recuperation are top of the list of things to do in Shropshire.

Derbyshire and the Peak District enjoy breathtaking landscapes and lively market towns. The county attracts walkers, cyclists, and sports enthusiasts as well as nature lovers and those wishing to relax in an easily accessible rural region.

Weather in the Heart of England

The weather in the Heart of England is pretty good. Due to its location, rain falls less often than in many parts of the UK. There are four distinct seasons, all of which are fine for enjoying the great outdoors.
