Anyone looking for a vacation in a pretty island destination will love Karon Beach in Thailand. Located on the south west coast of the island of Phuket, this beautiful resort has many interesting things to see and do. The beach has a long stretch of fine white sand and is an ideal place to relax and sunbathe. Swimming is popular here along with other watersports such as surfing, fishing, snorkelling and diving. A variety of souvenir shops can be found near Karon Beach with a great choice of shopping to be found at nearby Patong. Self catering holidaymakers will find a market from which to purchase food and drink. There are a few bars and restaurants serving excellent Thai cuisine and delicious seafood dishes here too.
There are many beautiful buildings to be seen in and around Karon Beach. One such attraction is Karon Temple and its two giant snake statues and the black Buddha statue. Cherngtalay Temple and Wat Chalong are other fine temples worth visiting on Phuket. One of the most striking sights on Phuket is the Big Buddha, which is 45 metres high. The waterfalls of Phuket are lovely places to take a nice cool dip or enjoy a picnic with two particularly good ones located at Khao Praew Thaew National Park. Holidaymakers can take sailing or speedboat trips around the islands here including a trip to Phang Nga Bay or Phi Phi Island. Dino Park Mini Golf is a great place for families to visit as it features a man made erupting volcano on the course.
The weather in Phuket is warm all year round. The average maximum ranges from 30 to 34 degrees centigrade and the minimums between 21 and 26. The wettest time of the year is September when the average rainfall is 362mm. May to mid-November is the rainy season but the showers are normally short.
Visitors can fly to Phuket International Airport (HKT), which is approximately one hour’s drive from Karon Beach. Flights arrive at Phuket from many international airports including Beijing-Capital (PEK), Brussels (BRU), Moscow-Domodedovo (DME), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Rome-Fiumicino (FCO), and Zurich (ZRH). Bangkok International Airport (BKK) and get a connecting flight to Phuket.
