Great Christmas location for the family

5 of 5
Our family (Me and my wife, our children, their spouses and our four grandchildren had a fabulous time at Grosmont villa. It was perfect for our needs. We arrived Christmas Eve, the rest of the family were joining us on Boxing Day so on Christmas Day we had a leisurely breakfast, opened our presents, had a bracing walk around Whitby harbour and a late Christmas lunch cooked in the AGA which I actually found easy to use. The kids and grandkids also loved the house and with the two living rooms one night we were able to set up the Scalextric in one room for the grandkids while the adults in the other had a fun evening of Karaoke (our son in law runs regular disco and Karaoke for a local pub and for birthday parties). One night our kids and spouses walked down the hill to the local pub while my wife and I played board games with the grandkids. On return they reported that they'd been asked to join the darts team in a tournament. As my wife said they must have been desperate to ask our tribe to play! As expected our three year old grandson Harry was really excited about the trains. One day we went down to the sheds. Thank goodness for the washing machine as he manged to get covered in soot! On my wife's birthday we went on the steam train to Pickering and back. He did not want to get off. Incidentally on the evening of her birthday we went for a meal to the Stables on the road to Whitby which we would really recommend. My son was so impressed he has put a review on trip adviser. Everyone bought fresh eggs (sold at reception) to take home. The villa is perfect for a family vacation, the rooms are big, the three bedrooms with showers cut down the queue for the bathroom and despite snow and ice outside the house is lovely and warm Everyone gravitated to the kitchen and our little dog loved sleeping in front of the AGA. Thank you so much for allowing us to use your lovely home.
