A true gem!

5 of 5
Fantastic cottage! Although we knew it had sea views, the photos on the website do not do this cottage justice. The view is stunning, and the cottage really comfortable and well equipped. It was spotlessly clean, and lacked for nothing. All my dealings with the owner were easy and she was very helpful in recommendations, and answered my many emailed questions promptly and in a friendly and helpful manner. The coastal walks in both directions are gorgeous, and very interesting. For anyone who likes fish, we highly recommend buying fresh fish from the Ventnor Haven Fisheries, who land their fish daily (we had it every day!) Also for garlic lovers-the Garlic Farm in Newchurch. We ate enough garlic to ward off heart disease and vampires for years! We would absolutely recommend this cottage and Ventnor.

Fantastic Cottage

5 of 5
We had a fabulous stay at Smugglers Cottage. We were a family of 7 traveling with a 5 and 7 year old and we all loved it! It was exactly what we needed for a few days away from London after a hectic Christmas period. The wood burning stove was wonderful and the cottage was cosy. It offered everything from a fully equipped kitchen to games and comfortable bedding. Sally and Matt are great hosts making sure everything we needed was provided for and answered all of our questions without hesitation. Great find and hope to return one day.

Ventnor itself is an absolute gem

5 of 5
The owner of Ocean View really has taken care when decorating and furnishing the cottage. It’s both stylish and comfy and, most importantly, spotlessly clean. The whole family enjoyed the bright airy feel to the place and, of course, the fabulous sea views. We’ll greatly miss sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine, watching the boats sail by. The dog also highly recommends the cottage for access to such varied ‘walkies’. He especially enjoyed the downs where you feel as if are on the very top of the island. Ventnor itself is an absolute gem as it’s smaller neighbour Steephill Cove where you can eat freshly caught crab & lobster. Well worth the climb down from the Botanic Gardens. Other recommendations would be the Ale & Oyster on the Esplanade and the Volunteer Pub – totally authentic with excellent beers. Don’t miss the little Heritage Museum and the Longshoreman’s Museum on the front which the kids enjoyed even more than the amusement arcade.
