fabulous house in a beautiful location

5 of 5
The house is large and beautifull appointed in the midst of rolling hills and fields, feels secluded but safe, stunning vistas everywhere. Long house with beautiful period details, fabulously decorated and furnished, all to a very high spec, so in addition to being extremely comfy, it is also stylish and lovely to look at. Immaculately clean, has all the facilities I could wish for on a rural retreat. Great flat-screen TV in very comfy snug an extra bonus; beautifully designed kitchen, plenty place to hang out, have dinner with friends, read. Bliss and perfection - thank you very much for an excellent few days!

Super!

5 of 5
We had a fabulous week in Snooty Fox I think we were the first guests to stay and that all new feeling was great in such an old and quirky building. Very warm, homely & comfy with bags of features you won't forget (children loved it) furnished with interesting pieces and lots of thought. We especially liked the granite staircase, but careful after a glass of wine! Master bedroom really comfortable, the ensuite bathroom is amazing...beds comfy, we didn't want to leave. Loved the Aga and so did our dog. The owner is really welcoming and helpful plus there is an information pack with lots of tourist information. Great walks on Dartmoor Grimspound minutes away (bronze age settlement ) Becky Falls is amazing , so is the Village of Widecombe idyllic and unspoilt, despite the local attractions the house is hard to leave with its amazing views and we were quite happy to stay put when the sun came out. Liked the toys, games, croquet, flowers and scones... A lot of thought has gone into this amazing house and we really appreciated those touches. Two gastro pubs in Widecombe, the Rugglestone which meant I could be even more lazy as food was good! Chagford and Moretonhamstead nearby for shopping. We ran out of time and are already considering a Dartmoor return! Careful on the an older farm driveway ...don't bring the low profile Merc!

Great cottage, great location!

5 of 5
Had a wonderful one week holiday at Croyde bay in the Barn which was outstanding. There was plenty of parking space and with the cottage being situated down a little lane it was extremely quiet. The cottage itself was extremely well equipped and we had a surprise gift of tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of wine...very nice! All the rooms were spacious and clean and the garden was lovely, typical country cottage. You do get a bit of noise from the adjoining cottage as there is just an internal door between them but this was not really a problem. The location was perfect as we were very close to the Post Office, shops, restaurants and beach. The ice-cream shop was a favourite. The restaurants were ok, very busy and very casual, we took clothes to dress up a bit for dinner but really didn't need to. The kids went surfing and had lessons at the Croyde Surfe School, they had a great time, the staff were friendly. Body boarding is great fun and everyone seems to do it, we didn't plan to join in but it was easy to hire boards and wet suits for the day. We would definitely go back to Croyde and stay in the Barn again.
