St. Lucia oasis

4 of 5
This spacious, 2-bedroom, 2-1/2 bathroom suite is in a lovely resort with one of the best lap pools on the planet. It is a bit out of the way, so a car is essential if you want to get to the fabulous restaurants in Rodney Bay (too many to count) though calling a cab is certainly an option. The master bed has a wonderful king size bed, there are two sinks in the master bathroom and a large shower (we only used the one bedroom) There is well-stocked kitchen (in terms of utensils and dishes) for any cooking you may want to do (we cooked breakfast and used the micro-wave to heat up leftovers from the terrific restaurants) and the host makes sure the basics (toilet paper, paper towels, instant coffee and tee) are stocked. A lovely, relaxing stay in a clean, spacious, near-the pool and beach location.

Two Weeks in Paradise

5 of 5
We recently returned from two weeks in paradise on the island of St. Lucia. Our vacation there was one of the best we ever had! It was wonderful to escape from a Canadian winter to temperatures ranging in the high 20’s (in Fahrenheit that would be in the 80’s). What a picturesque place St. Lucia is! We come from the landlocked prairies and so we were in awe of the scenery: mountains, the jungle greenery and the Caribbean. We had read glowing reviews of David and Wanda Wallace’s Nature’s Paradise. We were not disappointed! Nature’s Paradise is situated up a mountain just outside Marigot Bay, possibly the most beautiful place in St. Lucia. We stayed in the Avocado cottage. When we were at ”home”, we spent most of our time on the wraparound porch, overlooking the sea and Marigot Bay. Imagine waking up every morning to that view. The cottage has a kitchen, great for weekend breakfasts and for some eat in meals. The Wallaces provide a great breakfast from Monday to Friday. We were served tropical fruits, including juice made from the lime trees that grow on the property. There are also cheeses, local baguettes, Wanda’s amazing banana bread and muffins along with some of the best coffee we have ever had. It’s over breakfast that we had the opportunity to ask David and Wanda about the island and share with the other guests (a maximum of eight guests in the two cottages and two suites in the main house) various places and restaurants that they had visited. It was so interesting to meet couples from neighbouring provinces as well as from Oregon, Boston, and Britain. One couple mentioned they wanted to rent a catamaran for the day. We decided to split the cost and had a wonderful day seeing the island from the sea. We stopped at Sugar Beach for about an hour and later on for some snorkeling. We raved about this trip so much that when another couple arrived they, too, wanted to take a cruise. They opted for a half- day excursion and we, along with another couple, shared the cost. We would not have considered going on a cruise had it not been suggested over breakfast. David was able to make the bookings for us. David took us on an Eco Adventure, which we highly recommend. We visited a botanical garden and David, so knowledgeable about the vegetation, was an excellent guide. We went to a hot springs and spent some time in the pools there. The day ended with a visit to a volcano.

The perfect base

5 of 5
I spent 10 days in April 2014 in St Lucia with my wife and daughter (first visit). This villa is in Rodney Bay and near 2 excellent supermarkets and shopping malls. There are loads of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. And there's also nearby take away options. The bus stop for Gros Islet, Rodney Bay marina and Castries a 5 minute walk away. The villa is a 10 to 15 minute walk from Reduit beach. The villa itself is lovely. The ground floor mainly comprises a kitchen that opens out to an open plan dining area with table and chairs, and spacious lounge with 2 large white leather sofas and a huge flat screen TV with separate DVD player. The kitchen has all the crockery, utensils, glasses etc. that you should need and there is a large American style fridge/freezer. There is a cooker and hob but no microwave. There's a breakfast bar along one side of the kitchen. At the end of the apartment on the ground floor are some French doors leading to an outside dining/patio area with views of the swimming pool, garden area (which includes sun loungers and umbrellas), private mooring area for boats and Rodney Bay beyond. The view is beautiful and it is incredibly quiet and tranquil. The decoration is contemporary the whole apartment is very attractive looking. There is no air conditioning on the ground floor so it can get hot but during the day but open the back door and French doors and there is a lovely breeze that blows through. On the upper floor there are 2 large air conditioned bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Each had French doors leading to balconies. The master bedroom balcony sports a table and 2 chairs with a fantastic view of the pool, gardens and bay. The other balcony is effectively road side and the view is unattractive. The service was excellent. The owners were responsive to emails when arranging the holiday and emailed us when we were there as well. Upon arrival we met with Zan who manages the property and Irene who is the housekeeper. Zan helped with a trip for us and to organise a hire car for 4 days. Irene attended most days and kept the apartment really well. She was also very friendly with our daughter and was a useful source of local information. The swimming pool and garden areas were also kept immaculately. This villa proved to be a great choice and we found it to be the perfect base for exploring St Lucia. It feels genuinely luxurious and is recommended.
