Extremely relaxing rustic property,

5 of 5
One of most relaxing and enjoyable holidays. The villa was perfect in a wonderfully quiet and peaceful location, with a wonderful pool and garden. Only a took tuk ride to Tangalla and bars and restaurants are dotted along the beach should you wish. The chef and the rest of the other staff were wonderful during our stay, I'm already missing all of the delicious curries and fruit! We will be back!

Great place to stay, safe, secure, reliable owner

5 of 5
I stayed in this property with my mum and toddler daughter at the end of December. It was a lovely property, secure and safe and comfortable with working fans and air conditioning and access to shops within the complex and a swimming pool. The owner is based in the UK and to pay a deposit and the full amount to a stranger is always a worry but both the owner and his working colleague (Shanaka) in Sri-Lanka were very trustworthy and entirely helpful. They also recommended a driver service which was really useful and there is a guest book they keep in the property which always help to plan your trip. It is a good, safe base for a family to use close to the airport with security to enable you to travel around the country. We left on the 9/1/14 but unfortunately my grandmother died on the 2/2/14 and so I had book a ticket to fly back to Sri-Lanka that same day to accompany my mother. I rang the owner and without thought he offered me accommodation and told me I need not pay for anything until I came back to England - which was such a kind gesture (as he understood the sadness of the occasion and the importance of not adding to any more stress). I off course paid when I was in Sri-Lanka as I knew I would forget if I didn't do it there and then and off course on both occasions when I came back the owner refunded my deposit promptly without any fuss. So in short this is a great place and more importantly the UK owner is honourable and very organised with reliable help on hand in Sri-Lanka (Shanaka) if you do have a problem with the property. Shanaka's wife also left a welcome basket for us with milk, coffee, sugar etc., which was a lovely thought. I have recommended this place to my own friends. Kind regards Dr Dulani Mendis

an idyllic retreat in the country

5 of 5
I spent a wonderful four days at Guava House over new year 2014. We went en famille - seven people - and found ourselves spread over not just the house itself, walking straight out of the kitchen into the swimming pool, abut also in the two beautiful little cottages tucked into different corners of the estate. The house sits at the summit of a rubber plantation, up in the treetops, with glimpses through the leaves of the mountains above and the rice paddies below. At night its noisy with every type of creature you can imagine. We spent our time doing as little as possible, except walking into the local village, Hematagama, with its market (and an excellent barber...) and going for walks around the countryside lanes, finishing up at the hopper stand at the end of the lane for egg hoppers at sunset. Jayanthi, the cook rustled up superb meals at our request, and looked after the place for us. This is a wonderful place to go - quiet, and completely off the beaten track, and the closest you'll get to seeing what the countryside of the Sri Lankan hill country is really like.
