Home away from home

4 of 5
My husband and I spent a week in Lime Cottage during the very chilly August of this year. We were very cozy with the fireplace burning which warmed the whole cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking up a storm on and in the enormous gas stove/oven and didn't want for any cooking equipment, crockery or cutlery - all these items are supplied and are stylish, practical and spotless. There is a washing machine and dryer in the kitchen too which both take large loads and are quietly efficient. The owner, Athol's style comes through in the comfortable and refined furnishings and also in the unique, beautiful art pieces dotted around the cottage. I had to drag myself out of the memory foam pillow top, king size, extra-length bed in the mornings - sheer luxury! The en-suite bathroom we used off the main bedroom is stylish and chic with a gigantic shower rose in the shower and enough room for about 4 people to comfortably shower at once :-) If I must say something negative, the shower being blocked on the first night (although quickly rectified by Athol's efficient, friendly and handsome handyman), put a damper on an otherwise faultless week in Lime Cottage.

Great place to stay just outside of Cape Town

5 of 5
We were looking for a place south of Cape Town for our base for touring around the Peninsula for a beginning of our African experience and we picked the Ascot Gardens. We stayed 2 nights and we loved it. It's 2 min from shopping centre, 20 minutes driving for city centre (30 min rush hours), Muizenberg Beach, Constantia and have a good road connection towards other spots like Chapman's Peak Drive, Simon's Town, Cape Point. The place itself save, quite and you can park the car behind the gate. There few restaurants nearby too. Apartments are clean and well equipped; nice bathroom, full kitchen (so you can save few quid by buying a roasted chicken or ready made meals in a shop), overall great value for money. In the previous reviews I came across some negative comments regardless additional payment required for central heating -for us despite it was early spring with max temp in late teens and chilly morning and nights but we were not cold without central heating. We used hot water bottles to warm up bed before go to sleep and we were fine till morning. Barry is very helpful. We should come a day or 2 earlier and stay longer there longer.

Stunning lakeside location

5 of 5
We took this cottage for a month and loved every minute. It fits its description entirely and can't disappoint - comfortable, spacious and regularly serviced. The waterside location is idyllic, within a residential development - quiet, peaceful and safe yet within easy reach of all the places of interest. You need a car for which there is private, secure parking. The hosts are close by, easy-going, friendly and attentive. Local shops, restaurants, internet cafes and laundry are plentiful and very good indeed. Just down the road is a superb Information Office with incredibly helpful staff. And glorious beaches are just minutes away. Strongly recommended to anyone seeking a relaxed, private space to be away from the tourists.
