A little piece of Heaven

5 of 5
It is a testament to any establishment that visitors return again and again. This past September was my second visit to this peaceful sanctuary in rural France- it was like coming home! Butterfly cottage is a well appointed vacation rental that the host and hostess, George and Linda, have gone to great lengths to assure that your every need is met- from king sized bed to walk in shower to picnic baskets and blankets. Their attention to detail does not stop with just the accommodation, their genuine care of their guests' enjoyment of their stay goes on, to above and beyond, the expected. From arranging air flights, other accommodations, sights to see, gourmet meals to eat or to just making sure you have the peace and quiet to read a good book. I cannot thank them enough for making both trips to France memorable, and the making of new friends. For those that choose to stay here- you will not be disappointed.

Chateau de Servigny during Christmas 2014

5 of 5
The chateau is a great place to gather family or friends for holidays or events. Our Norwegian-French family of three generations, stayed for 7 nights in Chateau de Servigny, during Christmas, from 21. – 28. dec. 2014. Fifteen persons, eight adults and seven children (from 3-17), had a «once-of-a-life-time»-experience here, and we will remember this forever. The 8 bedrooms - each different from the other – all included toilet and bath, and apart from some of the beds being a bit too short for long Norwegians, they were all very nicely furnished and convenient. The castle offered multiple opportunities for all ages; piano, chess, TV, DVD’s, ping-pong, baby-foot, biking (for both children and adults) and tennis - or just a run or walk in the surrounding park. The small castle/play house in the park amazed the smaller kids. We would love to come back during summer time to try the swimming pool too! The family de Pontac has created a fantastic place to gather people for the extraordinary happenings, and with good taste in all details (colors, tapestry, furniture, curtains) and knowledge they have managed to create an authentic and yet practical place to stay. The kitchen was quite well equipped, but as we wanted to prepare all the meal ourselves (having a Chef in the family), extra casseroles etc. were needed. In the fantastic dining room beside the kitchen, we enjoyed our meals all gathered around the table. On Christmas Eve, we even used the small chapel in the park behind the chateau. This was a magical moment with candles, singing and some of the children playing the flute. The only thing we really missed, especially during this cold season, was the ability to use the fireplaces around in the house. We believe it would be a good idea to make this possible, especially in the dining room. Thank you for a memorable and magic Christmas holiday for our family!

New Year visit

5 of 5
House was wonderful, for both adults and children, the scale of the rooms was entertainment enough, but the play barn terrific, even in winter. The owners were un-fussy, left well alone unless asked, and combined with William the Conqueror's Falaise castle, the clam and mussel beaches, and the odd Camembert farm, it was superb.
